Manage Your Fitness at Home During Quarantine

Manage Your Fitness at Home During Quarantine

India is now under lockdown. It was a very crucial step to minimize the spread of Covid-19. Now while this will give us a lot of spare time to spend time with our family and hobbies, what kind of effect will it have on our fitness and health?

It has always been proven that a sedentary lifestyle is bad for physical and mental health, so staying active during this difficult time is essential.

Being physically active helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol. It can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It also helps maintain muscle mass and bone density. The most crucial factor is that it helps boost immunity, which is very important and helpful during this time.

Being active helps lower stress hormones and promotes a positive mental state.

Before lockdown, many people obviously depended on gyms or outdoor parks for their fitness, so being forced to stay indoor is proving to be a challenge for remaining active.

So, what can we do to ensure we make the most of the situation and keep ourselves fit and healthy?

The most critical aspect that you can improve is your diet. Being at home will allow you the time to cook your own healthy versions of meals. While at home, people tend to overdo snacking, so it is vital to either control it or replace it with healthier options.

One more essential thing is to have a proper routine- preferably the same you had before lockdown. If your regular routine requires waking up early, it is better that you maintain the same even while at home. Instead of abusing the right to eat, sleep & repeat at your own sweet time, this is the best opportunity for you to create a proper meal and sleep schedule that will eventually form into a healthy habit.

Even if you are stuck at home with no access to the gym, there are ways you can stay active and continue your workout routine – and some of these require very little or no equipment. You can include various forms such as Yoga or HIIT that don’t require equipment most of the time.

There are various small equipment-based exercises as well that require very simple gear such as Resistance Bands, Yoga Ball, etc.
During this time of uncertainty, something we can take control of is our fitness and routine. So, make the most of this time and turn it into a positive outcome by challenging yourself to improve fitness.
